Don't lose the dummy!

We had two of these chains for each child and only once lost a dummy

Babies and children will never, unfortunately, understand that dummies are expensive and that's why they shouldn't lose them over and over. To save on buying replacement after replacement, just invest in one of these dummy chains. The German brands have always been my favourite, with Heimess top of the list. Choose one that is fairly small and even in terms of the shapes; larger shapes in the chain are awkward to get the dummy over, which you'll need to do to get the dummy on in the first place and to replace periodically due to dummy wear and tear.

Heimess and Haba both do lovely colours and designs, all in wood and with non-toxic paints. The clips are also stronger on these brands than on others that I've found, which children have been able to pull off and therefore leaves you no better off than when you only have the dummy (other than you have two things to replace when they get lost!). These clips are also great for keeping the dummy on the baby when they are asleep (just clip to the sleeping bag) so that they don't wake you when simply wanting to replace the dummy.
